All revenues from the sales of the handbags and folios will accrue directly to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. Online retail sales are available at: www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca and www.carinablack.com. A little about Pancreatic Cancer Canada…. Pancreatic Cancer Canada is a national voluntary association dedicated to raising awareness while supporting innovative research into early detection methods. They strongly believe that the discovery of new and cost-effective screening tests will lead to an earlier detection, thereby significantly increasing the odds for survival.
Pancreatic Cancer Canada is endorsed by The Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto where PCC is noted for their ongoing commitment to raise funds to support important research in the early detection of pancreatic cancer, specifically the Pancreas Cancer Early Detection Translational Research Study. All funds raised benefit research at Princess Margaret Hospital – specifically in support of the work of Dr. Steven Gallinger and Dr. Malcolm Moore -- studying the effectiveness of ultrasound and MRI in individuals classified as being high risk candidates. Their hope is that information from this study will lead to the development of novel and cost-effective screening tests for pancreatic cancer.
Both co-chairs of Pancreatic Cancer Canada, Betty Aldridge and Laurie Ellies, lost loved ones to pancreatic cancer. Betty lost her husband, Dick. And Laurie lost her mother, Mearle. Also, our initial contact to Pancreatic Cancer Canada, Nella Contardi (who is credited for bringing us together on this project) also lost her sister, Lucia, to pancreatic cancer. Both the handbag and folio designed by Carina Black for Pancreatic Cancer Canada are named after their loved ones….Lucia and Mearle.
Pancreatic Cancer Canada is the only Canadian organization fighting for this cause.
Pancreatic Cancer Canada is a nationally registered charitable organization. PCC is registered with Charities Directorate and they are able to receipt all donations for income tax purposes for both individuals and corporations. Their registration number is 84870-1967 RR0001. |
